Sovereign Short Scale
Grand Concert Guitar, circa 1935
Sovereign was a trade name of the Oscar Schmidt Company, who produced large volumes of guitars in the 1920’s and 1930’s, under a wide range of trade names. Of these Stella and Sovereign are, perhaps, the most well-known.
This rare model is a fine example of the Oscar Schmidt Company’s workmanship at its best. The body is made from solid ribbon mahogany, with a fancy rosette of interwoven white pearl and abalone. The guitar is in original condition, including the rosewood fingerboard, and the ebonised mustachio style bridge with all six bone pins with inlaid abalone dots. The guitar has its original finish, which is in superb condition, with only very minor scuffs and scratches. The neck has recently been reset, and the fingerboard has been flattened and refretted, making the action low and playing a dream. The guitar is completely crack-free.
Dimensions: lower bout 14 3/8", scale length 25", nut width 1 13/16".
Nearly-new hard shell case is included.
